Caltech physicist and author Kenneth Libbrecht's remarkable microphotographs of snowflakes and snow crystals reveal the beauty and science behind these complex structures that nature creates, quite literally, out of thin air. Libbrecht's photos were honored in 2006 by the US Postal Service in a set of holiday stamps.
