Light in Winter broadens its reach

As we continue to work on next January’s festival, I’ve been pleased to receive some great invitations to upcoming events! On Sunday, April 1 at 2 pm, in the First Baptist Church downtown, Ithaca’s Music’s Recreation will be performing “Carnival of the Subatomic Particles”, a delightful suite of music by Mark Simon and poetry by Cornell physicist David Mermin. I’m going to narrate! The poetry is pretty sophisticated, as is the music; should be a lot of fun. Then on April 11 I’ll be on a panel for Tom Eisner’s class at Cornell called “State of the Planet”. The panel, which includes Steve Pond (Cornell Music Department, LIW 2005) is entitled Activism through Art. Finally on May 20 I’ll be participating in a post-show symposium called “Bringing Science to the Stage”, following a performance of the new play “Phallacy” by Stanford chemist Carl Djerassi. It opens at the historic Cherry Lane Theatre in NYC May 18. Here’s the link to Redshift Productions, a husband -wife team who are fabulous science communicators, musicians, dramatists, and now producers. http://www.redshiftproductions.com/events/index.html
